How do I get started as a coach with RYBA?

Hello Coaches,

Welcome to another Ringgold Youth Basketball Association (RYBA) regular season. Let's start by saying thank you for your continued support and volunteering to coach our young athletes. Without you, there would be children who might not get to play basketball this season. Prior basketball experience not necessary. We provide you with all of the support and resources necessary for a successful and enjoyable youth basketball season. All board members, including the Player Development Director are always available to assist and provide additional support.

We have put together a checklist below of things that are necessary to submit prior to becoming a coach. Additional coaching resources can also be found on the Player Development page in the Coaches Corner.

Our children are our greatest resource and it is our primary job to insure their safety.

Effect 07/01/2015, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania enacted legislation mandating that any/all "volunteers" that work with youth athletes must have current clearances. This includes anyone with direct access to or contact with any participating child, including the head coach, assistant coaches and any other adults (helpers and team moms).

1) Registration account profile needs updated with you registering as a volunteer coach.

2) Provide active clearances. These must be uploaded at the appropriate step during the volunteer registration process online.
> The PA Criminal History clearance
> The PA Child Abuse clearance
> Clearances for RYBA should be free of charge; no cost to you.
Make sure to register as a VOLUNTEER.

3) Bring a positive attitude!

4) Wait to be contacted following the close of player registration.

The PA Criminal History and the PA Child Abuse clearances must be completed and active for the duration of the youth basketball season. These documents will be kept on file by RYBA. It is the volunteers' responsibility to provide the RYBA board with active clearances when they need renewed. Volunteer coach registration process

PLEASE NOTE: Clearances are required to be submitted prior to basketball activities with the kids. They must be uploaded to your account volunteer role. If you do not already have active clearances available, then you can still complete the registration process online while you wait to obtain them. You will need to log back into your account volunteer role, and upload the documents directly.

Login if you have an existing SportsConnect account profile, or Create an account here if you do not already have one

From here you can register as coach one of two ways

(1) Complete the volunteer questions during the player registration process with one of the available programs

or if you DO NOT have a player to register, then

(2) On the main account page click the Find Volunteer Roles button on the left hand side of the screen

Finally

You might be taken to a page that does not show any available roles. Be sure to click on the Show More button. This will allow you to choose a program followed by available volunteer roles.

From here, click on the program you wish to volunteer for and click View Available Positions. From there you can click the division and particular role and fill out the required information for that role.
